About the Journal
Aim and Scope
The Kashmir Journal of Language Research (KJLR) is the official, peer-reviewed annual publication of the Department of English at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Our primary objective is to foster a global exchange of knowledge by providing a high-quality platform for innovative research. We are committed to the principle of Open Access, ensuring that all scholarly content is immediately and freely available to the public to support the worldwide dissemination of linguistic expertise.
KJLR invites original, unpublished research articles that contribute to the advancement of both theoretical and applied linguistics. We welcome diverse methodological approaches and interdisciplinary perspectives. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Theoretical Linguistics (Syntax, Morphology, Phonology, Semantics)
- Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching (ELT/TESOL)
- Sociolinguistics and Discourse Analysis
- Psycholinguistics and Cognitive Linguistics
- Language Policy, Identity, and Translation Studies
The journal strives to advance scholarly and scientific discussion of issues that bring together or differentiate between scholars in above mentioned fields. Contributions handling applied linguistic problems in a principled way by reference to theoretical studies are of major interest for KJLR.
Publication material in journal means that the author assigns copyright to KJLR including the right to electronic publishing. However, authors may use their material in others publications acknowledging KJLR as the original place of publication. Requests by third parties for permission should be addressed to the Editor, KJLR.
Journal Policies
- Open Access Policy
Kashmir Journal of Language Research (KJLR) provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All content is available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are permitted to read, download, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Full texts of all published articles are available in the Archives section of the official website.
- Licensing Policy
KJLR utilizes the Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0) to protect scholarly work from misuse. Under this license:
Copyright: Authors retain the copyright and publishing rights to their work.
Attribution (BY): Users must give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the journal.
Non-Commercial (NC): The content may be read and shared for non-commercial purposes only. Any use of the journal’s content requires clear citation of the author(s) and the Kashmir Journal of Language Research.
- Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism, including duplicate publication of an author’s own work (self-plagiarism), in whole or in part without proper citation, is strictly prohibited. Before submitting a manuscript through the online system, authors are required to verify the originality of their work using Turnitin.
- Conflict of Interest
Editors, authors, and peer reviewers are required to disclose any interests—financial, personal, political, or religious—that might be perceived as influencing their objectivity or affecting the integrity of the research and review process.
- Peer Review Policy
- KJLR follows a rigorous review process to ensure the quality of linguistic scholarship:
- Initial Evaluation: The Section Editor evaluates manuscripts for originality, academic rigor, and adherence to the journal’s aims and scope. Manuscripts with significant flaws or poor linguistic expression will be rejected at this stage.
- Double-Blind Review: Manuscripts meeting the criteria are sent to at least two expert referees. KJLR employs anonymous reviewing, where both the referees and authors remain anonymous to each other throughout and after the process.
- Final Decision: Recommendations for revisions are forwarded to the corresponding author, who must submit the revised manuscript within the stipulated timeframe. The final decision regarding acceptance or rejection is made by the Editorial Board based on the reviewers' comments and the quality of revisions.
- Complaints and Misconduct Policy
KJLR is committed to upholding best practices in research integrity. To report allegations of misconduct (such as data fabrication or plagiarism), please contact the Editor. The editorial team is responsible for investigating cases that affect the reliability or attribution of published work. Evidence must be provided to support allegations. If misconduct is confirmed, the journal will issue a retraction or correction in accordance with publication ethics guidelines.
- Corrections Policy
If suspicion of fraud or ethical misbehavior arises, the journal management will investigate. Authors will be given an opportunity to address concerns. Depending on the severity of the findings, the journal may:
Reject the manuscript (if unpublished).
Issue an Erratum/Correction alongside the article.
Publish an Editorial Expression of Concern.
